American Shore & Beach
Preservation Association is
formed in recognition of the fact that the shores of our oceans, lakes
and rivers constitute important assets for promoting the health and
physical well-being of the people of this nation, and that their
contiguity to our great centers of population affords an opportunity for
wholesome and necessary rest and recreation not equally available in any
other form.

The American Coastal Coalition
is a national membership organization composed of governmental entities,
government officials, business people, academics, national and regional
interest groups and advocacy organizations, property owners'
associations, individual coastal community residents, and others. It has
been organized to serve as the voice of the nation's coastal communities
in Washington, D.C.

Fire Island National Seashore (FINS) was
established "for the purpose of conserving and preserving for the use of
future generations certain relatively unspoiled and undeveloped beaches,
dunes, and other natural features ... which possess high values to the
Nation as examples of unspoiled areas of great natural beauty in close
proximity to large concentrations of urban population." Public Law
88-587

Long Island Coastal Alliance ( LICA ) (no website) is
a not-for-profit corporation formed in 1989 to give coastal communities,
property owner associations, condominiums and co-ops, individual
property owners, and coast-related and maritime business people a voice
in the coastal policy-making process.

Fair Harbor Community Association (FHCA) A predecessor
organization, the Fair Harbor Property Owners Association was formed in
1932. The current organization was established in 1977 and attempts to
represent all Fair Harbor residents in dealing with the town of Islip,
and also supports community activities which are outside of the direct
responsibilities of the districts. The FHCA is very active in many
aspects of Fair Harbor Life.

Fire Island Year Round
Residents Association (FIYRRA)
The Year-Round Residents
Association was formed to represent the interests of the almost 500
year-round men, women, and children living on Fire Island. These
residents live in both Brookhaven and Islip township, from Davis Park to
Kismet. The FIYRRA is very active in all aspects of year-round life.
