SUBJECT: Time to pay dues - and other news

Our new fiscal year 1999—2000 (July 1st to June 30th) starts next week and we seek to have you send your dues and other contributions that you might wish to send us in our ongoing effort to get the "Interim Plan" implemented. Dues for the next year are $75. Many make additional contributions to such as the Dunes Guardians Fund, which has financed many of the special steps necessary to get the Interim Plan in place, now ready to be examined in some depth by the general public and various political entities. (Many who live along the ocean have donated more than $2,500 to this special Dunes Guardians Fund.) Because our money needs are great, we also ask you to consider paying next year's dues, which would pay you up until June 30, 2001.

Purpose of the "Fact Sheet" link

This was created because many do not know the background of why we are so earnest to get the Interim Plan and the "reformulation plans" moving. The root of the situation is that we have great reasons to deserve the work to build the barrier beach back up, and those who decry our efforts should know why we seek justice. Filling a beach and the dune system with new sand to replace that lost over the years because of projects to the east seems just. Protecting the six miles of communities seems just, as does protecting six miles of National Seashore adjacent to communities that essentially created the National Seashore back in the early 1960s.

Our opposition, including some who work for the US Department of Interior, are questioning our beliefs in renourishing the beach and dunes. This set of facts here should be available to everyone who has such questions.

If you have friends in media, or friends in elected office, we suggest that you make photocopies of the fact sheet, or create letters that pick up some of those comments and send the facts out to others. Pass them out on street corners! Our messages must be heard and you can help. On the reverse side of the fact sheet, are some names and addresses to use for a beginning.

This kind of fact spreading should continue on until the projects are in hand.

If you'd like big quantities for distribution, we can do that as well, within reason. Just call.

Show it to your entire family so that they know what the issues are. We need your help now more than ever.
