More Information …
The Fire Island Association, a New York membership corporation, is a league of village and community property owner associations located within the boundaries of the Fire Island National Seashore. Each community association or village is an Institutional Member of the Association’s Board of Directors. At present, these comprise the community associations of Atlantique, Cherry Grove, Corneille Estates, Davis Park, Dunewood, Fair Harbor, Fire Island Pines, Kismet, Lonelyville, Ocean Bay Park, Ocean Beach, Point O’Woods, Robbins Rest, Saltaire, Seaview, Summer Club Condominium and Water Island. The Mayors of the Incorporated Villages of Ocean Beach and Saltaire are ex officio members of the FIA Executive Committee along with a president, executive vice president, treasurer, secretary and three vice presidents – the FIA officers elected by the Board of Directors. A list of the individuals presently serving as officers and directors of the board and alternates (who may attend meetings and who may vote on issues before the board in the absence of directors) may be found on the FIA Board of Directors page.
Individual Membership in the Fire Island Association is open to any person (or his or her spouse or domestic partner) who owns or leases real property on Fire Island on payment of annual dues of $90. Membership in a community or village association (Institutional Member of FIA) is not required of Individual Members of the Association, but FIA strongly recommends that all members join and support the property owner association in the community in which he or she resides. Individual Members have no vote on FIA matters, or representation on the FIA Board, except through Institutional Members representing the community or village in which they reside.
DIRECTORS MEETINGS …
Meetings of the FIA Board of Directors are held monthly in New York City from September through June. A General Membership Meeting, open to the public, is held on Fire Island in summer, at a location determined by the board and published on this website and in Fire Island News and Fire Island Tide. Additional meetings of the board may be held in summer on Fire Island as required.
